Looking for a career but no experience?

Cheeseman has several options for those who are looking to become a commercial driver but either do not have enough experience or are under 21 years of age.

Apprentice Program – No Experience Needed

Designed for: Drivers with a Class A CDL but no prior experience.

Do I qualify?

    • Must be 21 years or older
    • Must have a Class A CDL
    • Must live within 60 miles of either Fort Recovery, OH or Greer, SC terminals
    Positions Available After Completion:
    • Local: Home daily
    • Regional Plus: Home 1–2 times per week
    • Regional: Home weekly
    • OTR: Home 2–3 times per month
    About the Apprentice Program:
    • Duration: 10–12 weeks
    • Paid: $150/day (5–6 days per week)
    • Training in regional and local settings, with access to multiple trainers
    • Double-bunk trucks provided for regional training
    • Hotel option once per week for rest and space
    • Evaluation forms completed by both trainer and trainee throughout the program

Equipment

  • Late model equipment with autoshift transmissions, walk-in sleepers, electric APU and power inverter
  • 24hr maintenance staff to keep our equipment moving safely

18 Year Old Apprentice Program

Looking into a Class A CDL Driving Career but don’t know where to start?

How It Works:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Looking to obtain a Class A CDL to become a commercial driver

Acceptance: After approval into the program, the candidate will:

  • Attend a truck driving school to obtain their Class A CDL
  • Work as a freight handler or in the maintenance department while in school
  • Be paid for all hours worked plus an additional $1,500 (distributed weekly during school)
  • Apprentice Program:
    • 12-week program
    • Training and driving take place in Ohio only
  • After Completion:
    • Drivers under 21 can operate within a 125-mile radius of the Fort Recovery, OH terminal, staying within the state of Ohio
