Classic Apprentice Program

Designed for drivers who have their Class A CDL but no experience.

Do I qualify?

Must be 21 years of age
Have Class A CDL
Live within 60 miles of either Cheeseman Transport’s Fort Recovery, Ohio or Greer, South Carolina terminals

Positions available after the Apprentice Program:

Local (Home Daily)
Regional Plus (home 1-2 times per week)
Regional (home weekly)
OTR (home 2-3 times per month)

About the Apprentice Program

10-12 weeks long
Paid $150/day (5-6 days per week)
Training mixed between regional and local settings with access to multiple trainers
Double bunk trucks for regional training
Hotel option once per week to allow space
Evaluation forms given to both the trainer and trainee to complete during the training process

Equipment

International and Freightliners with autoshift transmissions, walk-in sleepers, electric APU and power inverter

24hr maintenance staff to keep our equipment moving safely

18 Year Old Apprentice Program

Looking into a Class A CDL Driving Career but don’t know where to start?

Cheeseman Transport offers its 18 year old Apprentice Program for:

Candidates who are at least 18 years of age
Looking to get a CDL A to become a commercial driver

How does it work?

After approved and accepted into the program, student will then:

Attend a truck driving school to obtain their Class A CDL
While attending school, the candidate will be able to work as a freight handler or in our maintenance department.
Candidates will be paid all hours worked plus an additional $1,500 (split up weekly during the duration of schooling)
Once completed, candidates will enter our Apprentice Program for 12 weeks. The training and driving will take place in Ohio only
Once released from the Apprentice Program, any driver under the age of 21 will be able to travel within a 125 mile radius of our Fort Recovery, Ohio terminal, staying within the state of Ohio
